Chronology of Diplomatic Relations
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Canada were established on July 23, 1992. In May 2011 the Embassy of Georgia to Canada was opened in Ottawa.
Fields of Cooperation
Canada has traditionally been a good friend and partner of Georgia.
The bilateral cooperation between two countries is developing in the fields of defence, economy, trade & investment, culture and education. Georgia and Canada actively cooperate within the framework of international organizations. Canada supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and its integration into North Atlantic Alliance.
The Bilateral Political Consultations between Foreign Ministries of Georgia and Canada are held annually since 2009.
Georgia attaches great importance to the cooperation and development of relations with Canada - a member of NATO, G7, and a country whose foreign policy priority is the development of democracy worldwide.
