FIFA 2026 seminar
On October 24 ,2025, in Ottawa, the Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Georgia, Ms. Salome Kurasbediani, participated in a diplomatic seminar held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Canada on the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The seminar was hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Anita Anand, and the Secretary of State (Sport), Adam van Koeverden, in partnership with FIFA. The event was attended by diplomats accredited to Canada and FIFA officials.
Minister Anand briefed members of the diplomatic corps on Canada’s preparations for the 2026 tournament, emphasizing the role of this global event in strengthening international partnerships and promoting Canada’s image on the world stage.
The FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and will be the largest tournament in FIFA's history, featuring 48 countries participating in 104 matches across 16 different cities in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Canada will host 13 matches in Toronto and Vancouver.
