The 42nd Session of the ICAO Assembly
During his address, Mr. Davitashvili expressed Georgia's firm position regarding the illegal flights initiated in occupied Abkhazia since May 2025. He stated that any such unauthorized flights constitute a gross violation of Georgia’s sovereignty, fundamental principles and norms of international law—including the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention)—and the UN Charter.
Ms. Salome Kurasbediani took part in the elections held within the framework of the Assembly, where 36 Member States were elected to the ICAO Council.
During the Assembly, the Georgian delegation held bilateral and multilateral meetings with the heads of international aviation organizations and partner aviation authorities. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of aviation was signed between Georgia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The ICAO Assembly was attended by more than 2,000 delegates from 192 Member States. The Assembly meets every three years to establish the worldwide policy of the organization and define the strategic direction for civil aviation for the upcoming triennium.
